Homemade German Pancakes

Who says you have to wait in line for 2 hours at a breakfast joint just to get delicious German pancakes?? My husband claims that he used to make German pancakes ALL the time when he was a bachelor, to which I thought Ya right!  These pancakes are served in a restaurant for a reason. They are too tricky and you do not know what you are talking about. To my surprise, he was spot on that even a single man could make these German pancakes by himself.
There are a few variations of the recipe but this one is practically fail safe. You can make these German pancakes in no time and they are uber tasty - or as Dwight from the office would say,  PERFECTENSHLAG!

Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 15 min

What you need:

3 eggs
1/2 C flour
1/2 C milk (**Some may argue that whole milk is the best for this recipe, but I used nonfat and it was perfect)
1/4 t salt
1/2 t vanilla
2 T butter
Mixing bowl
Wire whisk
Large skillet

Topping Ideas: butter, syrup, jam, sliced apples, sliced bananas, lemon juice

What to do:

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs well for at least 30 seconds
3. Slowly add the flour while whisking, making sure there are no clumps
4. Add the milk and whisk until the batter is smooth
5. Add salt and vanilla, whisk well
6. Melt the butter in the skillet by placing it in the oven for a couple seconds. Make sure you use a hot pad while handling the skillet!!
7. Remove the hot skillet and quickly add the batter and place it back in the oven for 15 minutes. It should start to look like this :

8. Don't take it out though until it is nice and browned, like this:

9. Transfer your delicious pancake to a plate, add your toppings of choice and finish it off with a glass of milk!
